St. Peter's Confirmation Instruction is a 2-year program for our 7th and 8th graders. Students engage in large-group and small-group learning. Teachers use the Bible and Luther's Small Catechism as the foundations for each lesson. Students will develop a deeper understanding of the beliefs, practices, life, and mission of the Christian Church. The Word of God will guide their connection to develop the strong foundation of their faith and connect with other students. Through Confirmation instruction, students participate in Holy Communion, make a confession of faith in Christ, and publicly declare that they adhere to the teachings of the Lutheran Church.
Students who complete the requirements are confirmed the fall of their 9th grade year.
We also have optional classes for our 5th and 6th graders. Students learn about the Old Testament and New Testament to help prepare them for their future Confirmation Instruction.
At the end of a student’s 6th grade year, students are able to participate in a communion preparation class. Students and parents attend three Wednesday night classes and study what communion means to a Lutheran and help these students embrace the gift of Jesus as He speaks to them, “Given for you…for the forgiveness of sins.” For more information regarding the confirmation program at St. Peter please contact Ted Fishcer at firstname.lastname@example.org or call 847-885-3350.
