  • JOIN US ON THE WINTER 2017 HAITI TRIP: Have you ever thought about seeing how God can use you outside of your comfort zone? Have you ever thought about taking a leap of faith and seeing what an overseas servant trip is all about? We are beginning to plan our 2017 Haiti Winter Servant trip. The trip will be in February 2017. If you have an interest, we would like to know. We are preparing to purchase tickets while the flights are much more affordable and we need to know how many! All that will be required to secure your place is $100 refundable deposit.  This past summer servant team will be sharing their experiences on Sunday, November 6 after the 11 am service. Come and hear their stories. After the presentation, we will also be talking to those who are considering joining us in February and also how you can be part of the team here in Schaumburg. If you are interested, please email Jeff or Kim Nyquist (jeff_nyquist@yahoo.com or kimsjtn@yahoo.com).

On Saturday they traveled to Les Cayes.  If traveled allowed they were to visit the Technology School and Simon & Pierre's Saturday School.  The next morning, they worshiped at Lutheran Church @ Charlotte and again worshipped at First Lutheran in Les Cayes.  Pastor Hays preached at both services.  Sunday afternoon the team traveled to Plain Martin where Amanda Maine and Kim Nyquist led a Women's Bible Study and Pastor Hays and Jeff Nyquist began the Pastoral Conference. We will wait to hear more!

We are here!!! We started our day heading for the airport at 4:00am this morning curtosy of Pastor Greg and the Hintz limo van service. The team enjoyed a Cuban sandwich for lunch in Miami.  Then traveled on to Port au Prince. We arrived safely in Port au Prince where we were greated by Gertrude from Notre Maison Orphanage! We will be spending the night at Gertrude's then heading to Les Cayes early tomorrow morning.

This evening we were treated to some amazing Haitian food for dinner including boiled potatoes, Haitian beef, vegetables, egg plant dish and dessert of fresh fruit that was flavored with lime, vanila and a bit of rum!! The team along with our friends from St. Paul's Lutheran in Orange, CA. are enjoying a warm evening on the rooftop of our guest house!
